Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

Hair Restoration

With Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), highly concentrated growth factors including stem cells and plasma have been sown to generate new hair growth, thicken thinned out hair, and to make hair grow thicker and healthier.

PRP in the area of damaged hair follicles amplifies the body’s natural wound healing. It works the best with thinning hair, whereas someone who has been bald for fifteen years, some of their scalp would not be a candidate for this procedure.

hr1HOW DOES PRP WORK?

Platelets contain growth factors that are complex proteins that initiate and organize growing tissue. Proteins present in plasma as well as PRP include: Fibrin, Fibronectin, and Vitronectin.

  • PRP contains leukocytes that are also key to tissue growth.
  • PRP contains stem cells that are concentrated which allows for cell division for growth as well as being able to attract additional stem cells to the repair site.
  • Regeneration occurs within the tissues and fibrils ensues. Growth and repair continue for up to one month after these injections. And since hair is slow growing it takes four to six months to see the full effect.

hr2HOW DO YOU PERFORM THE PROCEDURE?

Blood is drawn in our office as though you are having routine blood test. The blood is spun in a centrifuge and the PRP is separated and removed from the rest of the blood, by the high tech centrifuge.

Utilizing a topical anesthesia, a micro needling device is used to stimulate the scalp. This stimulation induces healing and growth repair cells into action. The highly concentrated platelet rich plasma (PRP) is then injected into the scalp.

The PRP contains many growth factors that stimulate the hair follicle’s growth. For more information, please call Alevizos Medical at 949-916-3600 or utilize the contact form on this page to contact us.
