Facial Micro-Needling

Dr. John G. Alevizos specializes in natural innovative aesthetics therapies to enhance and rejuvenate your facial appearance for a more youthful vibrant appearance. This procedure is known as facial micro-needling and is performed in office and requires no surgery or extended recovery time.

Facial Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for treating the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance.

During the micro-needling procedure, a state-of-the-art medical grade high speed micro-needling pen system (COSMOPen) is used by the doctor to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to naturally produce collagen and elastin. The COSMOPen penetrates 84,000 times a minute and is much more effective than a manual roller. The depth of the pen can be adjusted with a click to match the patients needs, and different parts of the face, especially around the eyes and nose which is a different depth than other parts of the face.

How is Micro-Needling done?

Dr. Alevizos will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate treatment setting based on your unique needs. The pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding until the entire treatment area has been covered.  The skin’s repair process results in improvement of the appearance of softer wrinkles. Additionally, by vertically piercing the skin, COSMOPen helps naturally induce collagen production and treat pigmentation.

Alevizos-Medical-Micro-needling Micro-needling offers the same results as a fractional laser without pain, downtime, expense, and thermal damage. This procedure is used to treat acne and surgical scars—including keloids—as well as wrinkles, stretch marks, pore size, and signs of aging.

What areas of the body can be treated – am I a good candidate?

Micro-needling can be performed on most skin types and is a valuable tool to treat a variety of skin concerns such as: facial rejuvenation, scarring (acne, surgical), stretch marks, pigmentation disorders and alopecia.

What will the treatment feel like and how long is the downtime?

In most cases, a topical anesthetic is applied to the skin prior to treatment to reduce discomfort and the procedure is pain free. The downtime is minimal; however patient may experience redness for 12 to 48 hours afterward.*

When will I see the results?

Usually you will notice some improvement after the the first or second treatment. More significant results usually will occur after 4 to 6 treatments spaced 10-15 days apart. Collagen remodeling takes place over time. Skin will normally continue to improve over the next 6 to 12 months post COSMOPen treatments with proper skin care regimen. Results will vary in each patient.

Please also learn about our enhanced Facial Rejuvenation Micro-Needling treatment which utilizes your own platelet rich plasma (PRP) also known as the Vampire Facial. Multiple studies have demonstrated in head to head comparisons that the best micro-needling results are with PRP and pen. The PRP rejuvenates the skin and collagen and recruits the bodies own growth factors from within.
